When he was a kid, being a space explorer sounded like a very cool job. That was his answer to whoever asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up. The new galaxies, the new planets, the new alien species, everything was going to be so exciting that the mere thought would make him scream in joy.
Fast forward ten years and he's twenty, on a beat-up spaceship they bought on a thirty-year loan and that one of them uses as a house when they don't travel with it. If they don't discover something in the next few days all his childhood enthusiasm will be lost in repairing the plumbing for the umpteenth time.
Title: Voice Music
People in the back rooms are screaming so loudly tonight that the music in the club hardly covers their voices. Leo is not a screamer and he doesn't like them. For him sex is a symphony of moans. This screeching and yelling, as if people were dying in there – instead of being teased for their own pleasure – is not exciting at all and it makes him nervous. “Do what you want to me,” Cody whispers, “and I'll only make the sounds you want.” Leo stands up and pulls at his leash. He will write the perfect symphony tonight.
Title: Wooden swords and burning fire
Annie was sitting in the yard, practicing a spell. She had been trying all week without success and she was getting frustrated. Leo and Adam mocked her because she couldn't do magic while they were already good with weapons. But they were hitting each other on the head with wooden swords, how hard could that be? The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She felt the rush of power, the tingling and then the spark. The blaze of fire coming out of her hands uncontrolled burned the wooden swords and some eyebrows, but it was worth it.
Title: Full moon
“Aren't you late?” Leo looks nervously at Blaine who is sitting on the couch, eating popcorn from a bowl as he watches TV.
“For what?” Blaine asks.
“Do you know the date?”
“Friday!” Blaine beams.
“It's full moon tonight.”
“Oh, that too,” Blaine nods.
“Shouldn't you be out?”
“Doing what? Howling at the moon?” Blaine chuckles. “I'm a shapeshifter, kid. Not a werewolf”
Blaine smirks as the bulge in his pants grows abnormally big. “I can change when I want and what I want.”
Leo pales and storms outside, the echo of his nope fading under the full moon.
Title: War and peace
We were at peace, they brought war to us is the title on the front page of the right-wing newspaper.
Cody throws it in the fire and growls like a tiny but ferocious lion. He also have a mane today, his black-and-pink hair braided with purple cyberpunk dreads. He doesn't understand why Adam – now president ad interim of the United States – still allows this rubbish. Queer people have been caged for twenty years in a ghetto. What they call peace was war against them. They didn't bring war to the country, they fought to bring peace to themselves.
Title: Movie night
Prompt: Black and white
Adam and Leo are watching him as he browses through the movie catalog on the streaming site.
“Is this really necessary?” Adam finally says.
Blaine chooses Casablanca and joins them on the couch. "Better, it's good.”
“It's a black-and-white movie! It was old even when you were young!” Leo complains.
"You told me it was my turn to choose something for movie night. I chose!"
Leo growls, knowing he's been played. They made Blaine watch alien sharks saving humanity from martian nazi, and a dinosaur-riding Leonardo Da Vinci fighting zombies in Renaissance Florence: Curtiz's 1942 masterpiece will be his revenge.
